Export and import products into WooCommerce

Export and import products into WooCommerce. There are many plugins that allow you to export and import products into WooCommerce. Most of these are paid plugins. Fortunately, WooCommece already has the ability built in that will allow you to export and import products from your products page. If you go to your WordPress dashboard, then go down to products which is usually located just under WooCommerce. Click on the products link and your product page will load.

Once on the product page, at the top by the title you will see three buttons., add new, import and Export. For our first sight we want to export our products, to do this click on the export button. This will load a panel titled export products to a CSV file. You can choose to export all columns, export all products, export all categories and also export custom meta. When you are happy with your selection click on the generate CSV button. You’ll CSV file will now be generated and downloaded to your computer’s default download location.

Now we have successfully exported our products, we need to import them into the next site. To do this go to the dashboard of the new site but you wish to import the products to. Again go to the products page and this time click on the import button at the top. When the import button is clicked a panel will open asking you to choose a file from your computer. You can either hit the choose file button and browse to the location of the CSV file we downloaded earlier, or if you have the folder open with the file in it, you can simply drag it up to the right hand side of the choose file button.. You are also given an option to update existing products, check this if it meets your needs. When you are ready click the continue button and hopefully everything will load correctly.

Occasionally when trying to import a CSV file you will get a message flag stating that this file cannot be uploaded to to security reasons. If this should happen to you don’t worry there is an easy fix. That is a free plugin but you can download from here called Disable Real MIME Check. Download this free plugin, go to your plugins page, click on the add new fun, then click on upload plug-in button. You can either browse to the location of the plug-in download, or drag it just to the right of the button to upload it. Once you have installed and activated this plugin, go back to your products page and retry the import process, this time it should go through with no error message. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish your import. That is how easy it is to export and import products with WooCommerce.
